Check out my stylish week with Makayla below:
A Festive Approach
I love a crossbody style for sunny summer events - think music/street fests. They feel more secure than a backpack or shoulder style but offer a sophisticated signature style that's hard to come by. Pairing the Makayla with a ruffled-hem crop top and studded vintage cutoffs with some flat sandals is perfect for a full day out, but get a bit more glam for a patio lunch date with some nude heels (which can also be stored in your new crossbody bag!).
How to get the look:
1) 90s Crop Top (similar) by Asos, $12, available at Asos
2) Studded Flower Crown by 312style, $12, available at Etsy
3) Super Studded Shorts by 312style, $149, available at Etsy
4) Makayla Crossbody Bag by Sienna Ray & Co., $375, available at Sienna Ray & Co.
5) Juno Pump (similar) by Report Signature, $128, available at DJ Premium
Pretty in Prints
The easiest way to create a dressed up daytime style is with a printed mini dress and a luxe handbag. Get an on trend pop of neon with an affordable bandeau that can be mixed and matched with basic pieces all summer long. Adding a pair of spiked gladiators keeps this look casual and comfortable with a slight edge.
How to get the look:
1) Bold Tribal Print Dress (similar) by Forever 21, $18, available at Forever 21
2) Allover Lace Bandeau (similar) by Express, $20, available at Express
3) Rivington Spike Sandal (similar) by Jeffrey Campbell, $140, available at Free People
4) Makayla Crossbody Bag by Sienna Ray & Co., $375, available at Sienna Ray & Co.
Clutch For The Night
Makayla rocks the night as an oversized clutch. A statement making clear spiked top, Lucite wedges and a mod white leather mini add a serious edge to this chameleon of a purse. Proving it's got looks, style and versatility the Makayla is a major must have this summer.
How to get the look:
1) Clear Spiked Top by Sass and Bide (no longer available)
2) Ponte Leather Mini Skirt (similar) by Mason, $395, available at Intermix
3) Soiree Sandal (similar) by Jeffrey Campbell, $120, available at Solestruck
4) Makayla Crossbody Bag by Sienna Ray & Co., $375, available at Sienna Ray & Co.
I had so much fun wandering with Makayla this past week! If you're due for a new handbag you can't go wrong with any of Sienna Ray & Co.'s buttery soft bags (I'm awaiting the timeless Bobbi to join my closet). And with luxe styles like these a winning look is literally in the bag.

These are all just fabulous, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI am looking for suggestions for a bag that can be brought with me to the beach, now that it is bikini time. I don't like the typical "beach" bags that every single girl (boring!) has out on the beach. I would like something classier/more high-end...but at the same time, I don't want to go overboard as I am carrying a bag on the beach while wearing a bikini (the high-end bags I bring with me as I stroll down Michigan Avenue would be too much for the beach as I am wearing just a bikini).
Any suggestions?
Thanks, and keep up the great job on your blog!!

Thanks Janessa! So glad you liked this post - I had so much fun playing around with this handbag it was truly so versatile but can be a little too luxe for the beach (water, sand and a gorgeous leather bad is probably a bit much).
DeleteHere are a few of my fave beach bags right now:
I love the navy/lime ombre on this classic straw bucket bag by Mar Y Sol at Piperlime: http://rstyle.me/hnzakj2tv
This "Thank You" Corner Store bag is made out of black leather and just cheeky and fun: http://www.oaknyc.com/cast-of-vices-medium-thank-you-leather-bag.html
I also love the idea of a tribal print mini backpack at the beach. Fits tons and is very on trend right now. At Topshop: http://rstyle.me/hrzj9a2tv
This striped and beaded hobo is the perfect size for the beach and I love the colors. At Anthropologie: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/accessories-bags/23585698.jsp
Hope I helped!

Fantastic recommendations, Lisa! Very helpful - I'll have to get my husband's credit card LOL!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your blog and getting more hot tips this summer!!

No problem! There are also some cute beach bags at Gap, Target and more that are a little less pricey if you just need it for a few trips to the beach this season! Glad you're enjoying 312style, and have a great week!
