So Shoe Me ~ 1/31/2011

With all the talks of blizzards in Chicago instead of distracting thoughts of the devilishly delicious treat from Dairy Queen I decided to lower my calorie intake and indulge in some online shoe stalking - obviously my favorite calorie burning routine. All that being said today's So Shoe Me is the Rub 1 Tall from Ilse Jacobsen ($175) available at Solestruck chosen for it's ability to transition from the worst of winter storms to a rainy spring day.

We all need a pair of versatile flat boots that will get us through the bad weather blues. I love that these rubber boots feature fashionable details like the white lace-up front and also sport a bright cheery turquoise that will have you hoping for the sunshine to go away so you can show off these unique and stylish boots. Pair with the usual jeans and tee combo when running errands, but also use this boot as your standby life saver when walking to work in rain, sleet or snow while still remaining stylish (do not become a running shoe bad fashion statistic).

So Shoe Me a pair of brightly hued rain boots that will get me through the worst weather conditions in a joyful fashion.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/30/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is the Mary Sue by Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony ($380) available at Opening Ceremony. I'm usually not big on clogs but I love this sweet little number from the new Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony. The upper is a luxe buttery leather in the perfect shade of caramel with an extra dash of sugar with detachable bows at the front. The platform wedges are the perfect modern and casual touch in a sleek blond wood. Wear these updated clogs with a pair of wide-leg or flare jeans and a floral print blouse for an easy and trend savvy retro look.

So Shoe Me a pair of exceptional clogs that bring quality and timelessness to a current trend.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/29/2011

Today's So Shoe Me. is the Cayler Slatted Platform Pumps from Report Signature ($265) available at ShopBop. As you may know by now I'm a HUGE fan of nude pumps. They give you a longer and leaner frame without the whole "working out" thing (and who doesn't like that?). I'm always on the lookout for a pair of pumps that add to your outfit with a unique detail that accents your individual style and the Cayler provides just that.

The Cayler separates itself from the classic nude pump with a 5" heel and a construction made up of cutout leather strips that show hints of skin, which is perfect for the approaching warmer months (I promise they're coming!). The Cayler is perfect for daytime events. You'll get the sophistication from the classic shape but the slatted leather cutouts are a relaxed and casual detail. Perfect for a shower, a daytime wedding or when you need a special yet classic shoe the Cayler is your secret style weapon.

So Shoe Me a pair of nude pumps that offer a sophisticated shape, a longer and leaner frame but still have unexpected details that match my signature style.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/28/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is the Flora in Purple from Gee Wa Wa ($180) available for pre-order at Solestruck. I discovered Gee Wa Wa this past summer when their highly sought after Fatale ankle boot was released. The Flora has the same awesomely awkward claw heel but is ready for the warmer months with an open upper and new colors. I love this deep purple since its deep tone can work as a neutral (when paired with bright separates) or played up as an unexpected pop of color (when worn with a neutral monochromatic look).
Another reason to love the Flora is the best of both worlds! With its oversized platform and sturdy wedge heel you can get on with your daily routine without sacrificing style for comfort.

So Shoe Me a pair of unique wedges that will add individuality, color and comfort into my wardrobe.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/27/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is the Wildchild in Taupe Suede from Jeffrey Campbell ($318) available at Karmaloop. With the 70s revival in full swing these funky shoes are the perfect way to mix modern and retro. The extra-long flowing fringe sets it apart from similar styles and the basic shape is taken from the iconic JC Lita. With a neutral taupe suede and mid-tone wood heel this is the perfect shoe to pair with vintage cut-offs, sheer skirts or your favorite pair of fitted jeans. With the ability to transition from day to night these shoes are perfect for the on-the-go fashion fiend.

So Shoe Me a pair of JC's that will get me on the fringe of fashion with the perfect mix of modern and retro.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/26/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is the Sam Edelman Lorissa in Nude ($200) available at Akira. You may recognize this shoe from a few other posts in my blog and fine...I'll admit it...I'm obsessed with these hard meets soft wonders and I needed to give them the full on So Shoe Me treatment for my own sanity.

I love the magic of a nude shoe. It makes your legs a mile long and creates a long and lean appearance without any of the "working out" crap. And if it could get any better the Lorissa has smokey gems and gunmetal spikes to boot (or peep-toe pump me up?). I have a tiny obsession with spikes so I knew these shoes HAD to be mine. They work with anything since they are a neutral but give your outfit an individual edge. The quality is also a selling point. The gems and spikes are sewn in and glued securely so you don't have to worry about them falling out - of course I wouldn't suggest wearing these on long city treks but out to your local watering hole, yes. Pair these with a simple top and skinny jeans to get a cool street style with a signature twist.

So Shoe Me a pair of gemmed and spiked stunners to cure my winter shoes sickness. The perfect signature shoe for those who like a little danger mixed with full-on chic.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/25/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is the affordable Love Me Pump in Fuchsia from Michael Antonio ($42) available at Lori's Shoes. Sometimes it's hard to give into a trend. You love the look, but don't want to spend your hard earned cash on a shoe that may be quick stepping out of the fashion scene. While I love bright shades and can guarantee that color will be a hit this spring it's better to test out the waters in a bargain (but still quality) pump than purchase the uber fancy pair. The bright (real suede) fuchsia is spot on in these classic pumps and can be worn with neutrals but I would suggest the bolder look of pairing these with a chic red shift dress. Add other pink accents with your jewelry to create a put-together look.

So Shoe Me a pair of bright hued pumps that will let me be part of the bright club this spring without breaking the bank.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/24/2011

Fashion is into navy now, that's why Today's So Shoe Me is a Script Suede Platform Wedge ($140) available at Topshop. While I still love my black staples it's time to make a change and go for a more diverse set of go-to neutrals. Seen on multiple pre-fall 2011 collections navy has been pairing up with browns and deep reds to make classic cuts pop. The 4.5" platform wedge, luxe suede and gold hardware details make this shoe perfect for dressing up or down. Wear with tailored separates (think brights) for downtown cool or go for a boho vibe with a vintage band tee and a flowing sheer maxi skirt. The possibilities are endless with this new neutral so get your style in ship shape with this easy to wear wedge.

So Shoe Me a pair of classic platform wedges in a neutral other than black that will transition easily through seasons without looking dated.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/23/2010

Today's So Shoe Me is the Angelina Peep Toe ($895) by Ruthie Davis available at The Hip Chick. Ruthie Davis is the ultimate in edgy sky-high heels and her Spring 2011 does not disappoint. Accented by neon brights, exaggerated spikes and cool hints of metallics you can't go wrong with any of her over the top shoes. I picked the Angelina since it is the most understated shoe of the collection, but it still packs a punch with the unexpected tri-material heel. The "vampire heel" is 5.5" and features a sexy strip of shiny metal front and center. The shoe itself is tame enough to work as a neutral. Pair with your favorite mini dress for an extreme night out. The hot pink sole gives a pep to your step and is just another signature Ruthie Davis touch that sole searchers like me love.

So Shoe Me a pair of unstoppable Ruthie Davis heels that feature unexpected elements along with a chic classic shape.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/22/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is the Eliotte Toggle Shoe from 80%20 ($120) availabe at Karmaloop. The geometric calf hair gives a houndstooth-esque print making it a luxe texture that pairs well with an all neutral outfit - that is anything but boring. Probably the best part about this sneaky little footwear line is that all of their shoes have a hidden platform. While the Eliotte Toggle Shoe looks like your average flat, there is actually a 3" stacked wedge inside giving you optimum height with a casual style. Pair these shoes with a pair of medium rinse skinny or straight leg jean with your favorite worn-in sweater this winter for a comfortable look that also remains chic and luxe.

So Shoe Me a pair of comfortable and casual shoes with luxe printed calfhair that subtly heighten my style.

all mine.

I want to be a WWDMAGIC Correspondent!

I'm a Vegas Virgin so what better way to spend my first time in sin city than by taking a fashion gamble at WWDMAGIC?

  1. How did you start your blog? What was the creative inspiration behind putting yourself out to the world?
I began my blog this past December because Twitter’s 140 characters was not enough for me. During my last semester in college I created this imaginary spot, 312style, which would provide women with my fashion expertise as well as the chance to discover new unique brands, boutiques and trends along with me.
This journey has just started but the ability to release my creativity into something that is just mine, without restrictions has become a daily habit I love to give into.

  1. From where you began to where you are now as an independent writer, what are three valuable things you’ve learned about your craft?
1)      Use YOUR voice.  When I first began writing I was writing in the tone I thought was appropriate. I later learned that writing an article that features individuality if much more intriguing than a cookie-cutter piece.
2)      Make time for writing. If you want to become a successful independent writer you have to treat it like a job and make time for it every day. Setting deadlines is essential. Even if you are writing a piece for your own personal blog it is vital to the success of the piece to set a deadline and keep it.
3)      Use your instincts. There is no room for getting caught up in what other’s may think of your work. Remember that your first instinct is always the best instinct. If you love what you have written chances are that your readers will love it too.
  1. What is your personal style?
My style is edgy, modern, sophisticated and independent. I’m a sucker spikes, leather and lucite. I love searching for independent designers that when collected and skillfully put together create a bold signature look.
  1. What brands are you head over heels in love with?
United Nude: Bringing architectural designs to footwear at mid-price points. Every time I wear their shoes I know it will be a “Where did you get those?” type of night.
Sass and Bide: These Aussie girls know what a woman wants. My new favorite purchase is their clear spiked harness top – perfect for an extravagant girl’s night out.
Alexander Wang: Once he created football inspired dud my obsession with his line came into overload. I can always look to his label for crisp modern clothes that are the perfect addition to any woman’s wardrobe.
Honorable Mentions: Dimepiece Designs, Senso, American Gold and Philip and Lillian.
  1. What are three of your favorite websites? because of the great customer service and unseen mix of 80+ indie brands. for their mix of vintage and new pieces that are extremely rare but many items are priced under $250, making it an accessible e-boutique. As an admitted shoeaholic Solestruck is the shoe boutique that enables my additction. All the designers I love in one place with great service, no tax and free shipping. Could a girl ask for more? I don’t think so.

  1. Who are three people you love to follow on twitter?
1)      @ManRepeller
2)      @Moxsie
3)      @Refinery29

  1. What do you hope to gain from attending WWDMAGIC?
Since I have just started my blog I hope to gain knowledge from the other fashion bloggers that will be in attendance. I want to take my blog to the next level by providing my readers with exclusive posts featuring the trends seen at this world famous trade show. Also having a degree in fashion merchandising I would love to see all the brands at WWDMAGIC and what’s next for them first hand.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/21/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is a pair of patent and clear oxfords from Cocue Basics ($168) available at Olive Shoppe. I know some people may be thinking, "ewww...sweaty feet!" But I for one love anything unique and clear so these oxfords are a yes in my book. I love that they make a statement with modern materials but still have a classic oxford shape. Wear these with a looser silhouette (perhaps loose cropped trousers and a boyfriend button down) to give off a relaxed casual vibe. Get more wearability out of these shoes by pairing these with bold hued socks and an oversized knee-length t-shirt dress.

So Shoe Me a pair of clear and patent oxfords that make an individual statement that can't be replicated.

Today's So Shoe Me is the sherbert wrapped suede wedge from Minimarket formally known as the Wooden Draped Suede Wedge ($310) available at Solestruck. The Delicious pastels make this the perfect shoe to put a spring in your step as you transition through the upcoming seasons. This exceptional boot would be perfect when paired with your sometimes ordinary jeans and a top routine raising your style status to pastel-dudded rock star.

So Shoe Me a pair of pastel wedges that turns the most expected outfit to crazy, cool and chic.

So Shoe Me ~ 1/19/2011

Today's So Shoe Me is the iconic Eamz pump from United Nude ($245) available at Endless. This shoe is all about the backside, or lack there of. With a lightweight steel heel reminiscent of a famed retro furniture design of the same name the Eamz brings stability and comfort with a mind boggling aesthetic. Found in multiple colorways and styles there is an Eamz for everyone, but I am partial to the above metallic champagne leather pump that mixes perfectly with the gunmetal heel. Metallic mixing galore so that mixing your metallic accessories is a no-brainer. Pair these with a pair of skinny jeans or a sexy mini-dress so that the Eamz take center stage.

So Shoe Me a pair of heel-less pumps that have simple style and a complicated design all in one.

The only way to finish off a proper menswear look is with a pair of sleek and shiny oxfords which is why the "Black Ines Oxford" from Alexander Wang ($422) available at OAK is today's So Shoe Me. The modern simplicity make these oxfords totally authentic, but the 1.6" stacked heel give a touch of femininity to your androgynous look. Wear these with a fitted evening tux to bring the completed menswear look together.

So Shoe Me a pair of the perfect menswear oxfords that add a glossy touch of sophistication and also a slight feminine lift.
